LANDCRUISER TURBO UPGRADE-TOYOTA LANDCRUSIER 80 SERIES 1HD-T SPARTAN BALL BEARING TURBO PROJECT

LandCruiser Turbo Upgrade – CT26 STS-50 R&D Test

A good friend of ours lent us his clean Toyota 80 Series for some R&D work, making it the perfect candidate for a LandCruiser turbo upgrade. Already fitted with an HPD intercooler and a full 3-inch turbo-back exhaust, the LandCruiser produced 110 kW & 422 Nm at 11 PSI to the hubs. Peak boost occurred at 3700 RPM but remained steady throughout the rev range. Air-fuel ratios were excellent, hovering around 20:1, ensuring safe and reliable operation during testing.

⚡ Testing the LandCruiser Turbo Upgrade – CT26 STS-50 Performance

As shown in the dyno graph, the vehicle didn’t pick up significantly until 2500 RPM. To address this, we plan to install our CT26 STS-50 turbo, aiming to enhance low-end power for towing and steep hill driving—exactly where LandCruiser owners need it most. Boost targets are modest at 12–14 PSI, with no changes to fuel pump calibration due to the high mileage of 440k km, preserving engine reliability.

This LandCruiser turbo upgrade promises improved throttle response, faster spool, and increased drivability while maintaining long-term durability. Stay tuned for part 2 where we will share dyno results and low-end performance improvements.
